The HOST® Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning System is a proven method for achieving clean and dry carpet that looks its best every day. But did you know that using HOST can contribute to a cleaner environment both inside and outside your facility? In fact, no other carpet cleaning product has the variety of independent certification and research that HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner has. This summary of independent research and certifications shows that HOST is environmentally preferred and the best choice for green, clean and dry carpet that looks its best every day.

HOST is Green Seal Certified

The Green Seal is awarded to products that meet the standards of performance, safety and reliability. Because HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner achieved the Green Seal Certification, you can be sure that it will promote a cleaner, healthier environment, cause less toxic pollution, reduce waste and conserve resources and habitats.

University laboratory tests prove HOST is not a food for dust mites. They eat only protein—skin scales—HOST is not a protein.

HOST Cleaning Dramatically Reduces Cat Allergen in Carpet

Pet allergens are one of the top indoor allergens to which people are sensitive. In 1995 and 1996 several homes, with a cat in residence for at least one year, were studied for the presence of cat allergens and the effects of HOST Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning in reducing them.

The study established that cat allergens (dander, hair and saliva) in carpet can be decreased 85% with a single HOST Dry Extraction Cleaning of carpet; a second cleaning reduces the number of these allergens to even lower levels.

This study was presented at the Seventh International IAQ Conference in Nagoya, Japan, July 1996.

Mould & Mould Spores Also Dramatically Reduced with One HOST Cleaning

Mould spores travel with wind current and are deposited on all indoor and outdoor surfaces. Mould allergens are found virtually everywhere in residential and commercial environments.

IAQ research showing HOST removes mould spores was confirmed by studies conducted in Wisconsin and Georgia. Mould spore levels in the Georgia test homes (humid climate) decreased by 85%. Levels in the Wisconsin homes (temperate climate) decreased by 94%.

How HOST Works

For effective carpet maintenance, a cleaning system that first vacuums and second dissolves and simultaneously removes soil is necessary.

The original dry extraction systems did not have a vacuuming capability. New generation equipment such as the Host Freestyle and Host Liberator has an in built vacuuming capability, coupled with brushes that ensure maximum dry soil removal.

Host ‘Dry’ Extraction Carpet Cleaner is formulated to dissolve both water soluble and solvent soluble soils and then to absorb these soils. Our Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaner is a modern-day product that has evolved after more than 50 years of research.

Reasons why the Host System works.

The cleaner is a soft, organic, natural product consisting of millions of absorbent ‘sponges’. These are moistened with a unique emulsion of water, detergent, deodorant and safe-to-use solvent.

The millions of tiny sponges do a double-duty job. First, they carry the cleaning chemicals to the fibres. Host controls the amount of moisture. It does not soak carpet fibres.

The Host Machine brushes the moist cleaning sponges up, down, over and around the carpet fibres. The chemicals contact all surfaces of the soiled fibres, breaking the oil bond and dissolving the soil. As brushing continues, the sponges now wipe the dissolved soil away from the fibres. The action is similar to a moist sponge used to wipe up spills in a kitchen.

The sponges in the second part of their double-duty job hold the dissolved soil until they are removed by vacuuming. The few sponges that remain are 100% organic will fall to the base of the carpet where they are removed in later vacuuming.

Carpets do not re-soil as quickly because there is no sticky residue to grab and hold fresh soil. Because the Host Carpet Cleaning system does not contribute to re-soiling, regular, frequent vacuuming keeps the carpet cleaner for longer.

Strictly limiting the water used means that carpets are dry after cleaning. The sponges absorb soil and no soil is left in solution at the base of the carpet - so soil cannot wick back to the carpet surface and appear as a spot some time later.

HOST I A Q

Studies Show HOST Cleaning Improves Indoor Air Quality.

Carpet has an important role of filtering the air. It traps and holds soil, dust and allergens. The vertical pile of carpet traps and holds many times its weight in small particles, including dust and allergens, that enter into the indoor environment and descend onto it from above. Substantial research suggests carpet does not release these elements back into the air. However, filters need cleaning and so it's important to routinely clean carpets.

The HOST System of applying HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner to the carpet, brushing it through the carpet and then vacuuming up the HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner removes dirt and reduces allergens. Research studies have shown that one cleaning with the HOST System using HOST Machines reduces: Dust mites by 78%, Dust Mite Allergen by 75%, Cat Allergen by 85%, Mould Spores by 85%.
